Nine members of the Louisiana SAR traveled to Savannah, GA to participate in the 132nd Annual Congress. This was the most Louisiana SAR members to attend a congress in recent memory. Our members who attended were Randall Domingue, Clancy Dunn, Frederick “Russ” Godwin, Bradley Hayes, Billy LeJeune, Jerry Madden, James Morock, Jeffrey Nolen, and Tony L. Vets, Sr.
We are proud to announce that Isabella Howard was a 4th place winner in the orations contest, earning $1,000 for her effort. We should be grateful that she represented us! Unfortunately, Isabella was the only contestant to win or place in a contest this year.
Bringing greetings from the Children of the American Revolution was Cagle Kaough from Lake Charles, LA. We are thrilled that we have such good representation helping to teach our youth to take pride in our Patriot Ancestors.
The vote at Wednesday’s session was a contest between two good men, Darrly Addington of TN and our own Tony L. Vets, Sr. As they say, the better man won. We should be proud that three of the ten General Officers of the SAR are from the Southern District. They are President General C. Bruce Pickette, Treasurer General Darryl S. Addington, and Librarian General J. Fred Olive, III. THANK YOU for your support of the SAR.
On Thursday our own Bradley Hayes was installed as Vice President General of the Southern District. Thank you, Bradley, for stepping up to this demanding position.
