Louisiana Society Sons of the American Revolution (LASSAR) President Steve Kubicek was invited to attend, in his George Washington uniform, the May 18 meeting of the John James Audubon Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, where he was presented with the Hannah White Arnett Silver Medal and Certificate.
The Hannah White Arnett Medal and Certificate is one of the DAR’s newest recognitions. Awarded through the DAR/SAR/SR Committee (chaired by Denise Lindsly), it honors “a member in good standing of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), General Society, or Sons of the Revolution (SAR) for unselfish devotion, tireless efforts, and assistance to the DAR; and who has dedicated his time, energy, talents, and/or resources to the organization in support and furtherance of the DAR mission of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.”
This distinction may be presented to a SAR Compatriot up to three times—Bronze, Silver, and Gold. President Kubicek previously received the Bronze Hannah White Arnett Medal.
During the meeting, President Kubicek also spoke on behalf of the Louisiana Society, SAR, encouraging donor support for the new Charters of Freedom monuments currently under construction at the Capitol Park Museum in Baton Rouge. The Charters of Freedom Dedication Ceremony is scheduled for September 19, immediately following the Battle of Baton Rouge Commemoration.
