Welcome to the Louisiana Society of The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) webpage. We are an historical and genealogical organization focused on the American Revolution War Era. The Louisiana Society is comprised of 11 Chapters in all parts of the state. We concentrate on community programs such as youth awards, Veteran outreach programs, and community education.
Becoming a member of our organization is much easier than it may seem. Please contact any member on this site to get started on your journey. We want you as a fellow compatriot in the Louisiana Society of SAR.
Fellow Compatriots,
Thank you for your trust. I will strive to continue this organization’s outstanding efforts and reputation. I have three key points that will define my focus in addition to our conventional projects that will support the SAR mission: Branding, Compatriot Education, and Mentorship.
Branding is a large component of recruitment. Let’s not only share who and what we are, but how easy it is to be a LASSAR Compatriot. Offer a business card or contact information to a prospective Compatriot. Let them know that a 50-year-old person has over 250 grandparents from the Revolutionary War Era. Tell / show them how to start their tree, onboarding should start at the first contact.
Education is a key part of our mission statement. We have many programs designed to educate our community. We need to also educate internally to ensure we have proper training for our organization. SAR University (NASSAR main website) is key for internal training at the Chapter Level.
Mentorship is another key to the organization’s future and retention. We need to develop our future leaders. A poll was conducted with 40 years old Compatriots and younger. The primary issue influencing younger Compatriots involvement in leadership positions was lack of mentorship. We must share our knowledge to bolster overall confidence. Internal information is strength, but shared information is organizational influence.
