Our Chapter was honored to have our State President, Bill LeJeune attended our meeting where he informed our Chapter members about events happening in Louisiana. President LeJeune also presented Chapter President Ted Brode with the District’s Silver Roger Sherman Commendation Medal with Star for his service to SAR in the Southern District.
Our James Huey Chapter Essay Contest Winner, Annabelle Huber, of the Geneva Academy in West Monroe came and read her winning essay to the membership “How Spain helped secure America’s Liberty” and was presented her certificate and award by her grandfather Ted Brode.

Compatriots also voted on our James Huey Chapter Americanism Poster Contest with 49 contestants from the Cedar Creek Elementary School in Ruston. 1st place went to Mella Garlington and 2nd place went to Vaida Carroll and 3rd place went to Sallie McMaster. Honorable mention went to Beckham Hasty. The certificates and prizes to be presented to the winners on Monday, March 2nd 2026.
