John Francois and Edward Chapman drove to Ville Platte to make 3 JROTC presentations at Ville Platte High School on behalf of the Attakapas Chapter's JROTC/ROTC program. These 2021/2022 School Year awards were made because the Ville Platte JROTC unit was unable to conduct an awards event last year.
The awards presented were as follows:
1. Bronze JROTC Medal was presented to JROTC Cadet Riley Manuel as the outstanding cadet
2. Two cadets, Cadet Erica Rubin and Cadet Madison Edwards, were recognized for servings as color guard drummers during the October 16, 2021 ceremony to commemorate the Opelousas Post Militia of 1777 commanded by Brigadier General Galvez. The plaque was a project jointly spearheaded by the Sons and the Daughters of the American Revolution and was well attended by many locals and state representatives.
